I bought this condo the day before Thanksgiving. A fixer-upper to say the least. We tore out everything but the kitchen cabinets, shower and bathtub – and refinished those. I moved in two weeks ago, with much of the refurbishment done, but several things still pending.
I toodled off to work this morning all happy, because my contractor was scheduled to replace all the gross old interior doors in the condo with nice new white 4 panel doors, fabricated to order, to have nice shiny brass hardware (purchased by me a few weeks ago, when the doors were ordered).
Bad news, received via a voice mail just before 5 pm. Contractor got all the old interior doors off and hauled out of here, then hauled all the new doors up here. And found that ALL of them were wrongly sized in one way or another. He called the fabrication company, they admitted it was their error.
So I come home to NO interior doors – including the pantry door and closet doors. And white doors leaning up against the wall which will be picked up Monday and taken back to the millwrights.
Contractor is just about as upset as I am, and apologetic. But it’s hardly his fault if they made the doors the wrong size.
See, it’s always something.
Lord knows when I will have the new doors in place. Er, I guess I’d better figure out how to rig up a sheet or something for bathroom privacy if I have any visitors for the duration. But this place isn’t ready for visitors anyway. Forget about the bathroom privacy issue, I’m not ready to tidy up the kitchen pantry to make it presentable for company without a door. Humph.

Sorry to hear that you are sans inner doors! I wonder how the measurements came to be off on the new doors.
In any case, I hope the replacements arrive sooner than anticipated and that they’ll be absolutely perfect.
